A FEW WORDS FROM OUR PARENTS...

Erica
Longo

"I have had the greatest pleasure to be mentored by one of the most dedicated, patient, caring and loved teachers I have ever met in my 34 years of life. She has showed and taught me more skills by observing her teach others than any other teacher I’ve had while I was attending school.

When I first met and sat down with her for orientation, my first impression was that she gave me a feeling of tranquility. Her presence is one of comfort and calmness. I felt at ease with her which I was glad to embrace.

Watching her work with the VPK/kindergarten children showing them multiple lessons with the utmost simplicity truly amazed me. For example, she showed a 4 year old a mathematical concept of “teen numbers”; to make the number eleven by using a Montessori wooden tablet with numbers etched in from 0-9.

She asked the child to read the number 10 on the tablet. Then on the right she slid the number one over the zero. Then asked the child to read the number. The child read the number eleven. Mrs. Bromfield continued sliding the numbers one through nine to demonstrate all the teen numbers.

After her presentation she then asked the child to show her how to form the teen numbers using beads; using a bar of ten beads and 1 (one) unit and the child made the number eleven. The child was able to not only make the number with the tablet but also to write when asked a specific number so she understood the difference between how to write eleven and how to make eleven.

Her way of teaching, explaining and demonstrating the concepts is so unique that most people are not aware of how successful the Montessori approach to teaching is.

It is not only the Montessori practice but also her personality to stimulate the child’s mind in such a fashion that it's unforgettable and enjoyable for the child. So enjoyable that the child asks to do it over and over again.

So I can not envision myself teaching in any other way than the way she has demonstrated and illustrated. Her ability to educate, listen, understand and relate to children is profound. My goal is to strive to be like her in more ways than one, not only in my career but in my life. Mrs. Bromfield is not only my mentor but my guide and my model. In my opinion anyone taking page from her book is just that much better off for the future."

"Resse Madison has had a wonderful learning and social experience while attending VPK this year at Lake County Prep. The small classes, one-on-one experience, and Montessori based curriculum, have all helped Reese to realize her potential."

"I wanted to thank everyone for making Dakota Jewell's VPK experience a joyful one!! She learned SO much in a short time and I am very excited to have my other daughter, Tayler, start there in August!! Can't wait to see another young mind bloom!!"

"Before my daughter started going to this academy, she was shy, withdrawn, and slow with learning. Most children could count to 10 and say their ABC's. Miah could not. Now, she is more talkative, but not rude. She has attained manners from the school that no other school would teach. She came home and taught me how they did things in her school. This allowed me to implement these methods and made home life easier."

"My four year old son goes to VPK here. He loves it and is learning more that the average VPK stands to teach. He is learning to read and write. They teach things for everyday life as well not just Academics. He has an extended vocabulary and is learning to be polite and respectful. He is learning to play in a clean way. He no longer takes out every toy he owns but instead plays with related toys and then its them back after he is done. He is also learning to be honest and take responsibility for his actions. He is learning to clean up after himself and to help others around him.

They use a Montessori philosophy and a British curriculum. It is an amazing place for children to learn and the staff is helpful, kind and very understanding."
